Bridging the Gap

Bridging the Gap is the title of our new fund-raising venture, in conjunction with the Upper Don Walk Trust, to get the 1/10th scale replica of the Brooklyn Bridge built.

Among the many reasons for delaying the build is, of course, the devastating flooding of June 2007 and a rethink into flood control on the River Don.

Most of the funding needed has already been raised but there is a small shortfall - hence the title "Bridging the Gap"

We are planning several events at the Gardeners Rest to raise money and awareness of the plans, and increase the profile of the area generally.

For many, many years we have held on to our guest beer pumpclips - believe me, that's a lot of pumpclips!

The time has come to put these to good use. On the bar we will be keeping a box stocked with old, and not so old, pumpclips at a very reasonable 50p each.

Whatever it is you collect - classic beers, defunct breweries, trains, animals, whatever, be sure to have a look and see if there is something there for you!

All proceeds will go to the Bridging the Gap campaign.
